1. What are you doing for Thanksgiving this year?
We are hosting this year. 18 people in the house we've been living in for one month. Crazy? Yes, we are!
2. What are you most thankful for this year?
The health of my family and that both J and I have secure jobs.
3. Do you have any traditions on Thanksgiving? The parade? Football? Long naps?
None that we have to do every year. Normally the parade is on in the background in the morning while Mom and I pour through the Black Friday ads. Later in the day, football is turned on.
4. Is it called stuffing or dressing? Is it in the bird or a separate dish?
It is called stuffing. Dressing is a liquid you pour over your salad! And no, it does not go in the bird because we don't want to get sick from under-cooked food.
5. Do you cook?
Love to!
6. What is your favorite dish?
Sweet potatoes.
7. What is your dessert preference?
All of them! This year I'm making pear custard pie, pumpkin maple pie, pumpkin walnut maple pie, and an apple caramel pie. With homemade whipped cream.
8. What is your favorite Thanksgiving memory?
Going to Grandma's with all my cousins.
9. Do you plan to shop on Black Friday?
Nope, I usually don't. Maybe I'll hit one or two sales after 2 pm when all the crazies are finally in bed sleeping it all off.
10. What are you most dreading about Thanksgiving this year?
The fact that I work the night before and will be sleep-deprived, and the clean up. Who wants to come wash my turkey roaster and my floors???

Ten on Tuesday
1. What is your favorite brand of shoes?
ALL! Let's see, I love Dansko & Privo by Clark's for work, Sperry Topsiders for daily wear, Teva for flip-flops, Nine West & Paolo for dress shoes.
2. How old were you when you learned to tie your shoes?
I was probably about 5, but I truly don't know the answer for sure.
3. How do you feel about freckles?
I think they're cute...too a point.
4. I can count to ten in ___ languages.
2: English and Spanish
5. What is your favorite store-bought ice cream flavor?
Lately, I've been loving Dreyer's All-Fruit bars in coconut. But scoopable, I don't actually have a favorite flavor...I rotate my flavor choices!
6. Were you in ballet or gymnastics as a little girl?
I took 1 gymnastics class and 1 ice skating class when I was about 5. That was it until I was 11 and started horseback riding lessons.
7. Who is your favorite Sesame Street character?
Snuffleupagus!
8. What’s your bedtime?
Between 10 and 11:30 when I sleep at night. When I sleep during the day, I get to bed between 8 and 8:30 am.
9. Do you have any jewelry that you wear every single day?
My wedding ring when I'm not working (we're not allowed to wear them to work).

Whoever gets to it first!

Ten on Tuesday
1. What’s the recipe for your favorite drink? (Smoothie, alchoholic, coffee, whatever.)
My favorite drink changes frequently. Currently I take my purple polka-dotted wine glass and fill it three-quarters full with Dole's Pineapple Peach Mango juice and add in a shot of Pinnacle's Whipped Cream vodka. Yum!
2. What kind of razor do you use?
Schick Quattro. Love! No razor burn ever on my sensitive skin and I love that each blade lasts me at least 6 weeks (I shave at least every 3rd day).
3. Who is your favorite Sesame Street character?
Cookie Monster. Because really, who doesn't want a cookie?
4. What makes the perfect salad? (Lettuce type, toppings, dressing, etc.)
Fruit and candied nuts and spinach!
5. What was your favorite subject in school?
Obstetrical and Pediatric nursing. I also really loved literature classes.
6. What’s your favorite summer tradition?
Spending time at the lake cabin with all of my cousins and their kids, shooting bottle rockets through the water, roasting marshmallows, watermelon seed spitting contests, super soakers, afternoon naps, boat rides and the like. I hope that our next generation enjoys being together as much as the current generations of my family do!
7. Do you suffer from seasonal allergies? How do you combat them?
Occasionally, and I only get light sniffles and rare sneezes, so I just suffer on through without meds.
8. How often do you have to charge your cell phone?
I do daily, but it can go 3-4 days if I don't talk too much.
9. Do you have a bucket list?
Nope. I have some things I want to do, but nothing so badly that I have felt the need to write it down and proclaim it as a "must do."
10. Do you have any desire to go back to school?
Not one iota. Hubs just finished up his graduate school and for me that was torture enough. I do wish that I could go back and sit in on a few lectures from nursing school, just as a refresher. But the papers, studying, researching, ugh! no thank you!

Ten on Tuesday
1. What type of phone do you have? Do you like it?
I hate my current phone, so many bad features. It is a Samsung Intensity and I only got it because my last phone broke before my contract was up and this one qualified as a free replacement and I didn't have to buy a data package.
2. How old were you when you got your first cell phone?
I think I was 17, and probably the last person in my graduating class to posses one.
3. How many cell phones have you owned since your first?
I'm on my 5th one. If I could have kept #4, my little purple LG flip-phone forever, I would.
4. How much is your average monthly phone bill?
We pay about $90 for 700 shared minutes and 500 texts each.
5. When you were a kid/teenager, were you allowed to have a phone in your room?
Nope. Well, not until I had a cell phone at least.
6. Do you like talking on the phone or do you despise it? Or somewhere in-between?
I'm an in between-er. Mom, Best Friend, and Grandma are who I get real talk-y with. Anyone else, I prefer in person.
7. Do you text a lot? Is texting/talking while driving illegal where you live? Are you guilty of it anyway?
I text a fair amount. And texting and talking are illegal while driving here, both are now primary offenses, I believe. Thank goodness, too. It is so dangerous. I'm guilty of the occasional "I'm 5 min late" call or the reading of a text at a stoplight, but I never respond.
8. What sort of texting keyboard does your phone have? Touch screen, slide out, or something different? Do you care?
I have a slide out keyboard, and I do like that.
9. Look at the last call in your call log – who is it? What were they calling about? Who calls you the most?
It was my best friend inviting me out for margaritas and tacos tonight. And usually, my mom calls me the most.
10. What is the longest phone call you can recall having?
My husband and I racked up some really long ones while in college in 2 different states. He'd go sit in his car to talk to me A, because of crazy roommate and B, so that he could keep his phone plugged in during our long conversations.

Ten on Tuesday
1. What is the weather like in your city today?
It is currently gray-ish, dry, and 50*. It's supposed to stay dry and get a bit sunnier as the day goes on.
2. Do you like the zoo?
I do. We have 2 nearby. One has amazing animals and the other has a FANTASTIC aquarium. And Zoo Lights with a hot toddy and my nieces can't be beat.
3. Do you eat coconut?
Totally love it. I am currently addicted to Coconut M&Ms.
4. Have you ever hammered a nail? Are you good at it?
Oh yeah. I am good at it. I worked in a hardware store in high school and I assembled a lot of BBQs, picnic tables, and wheelbarrows. Plus I'm the resident nail-pounder-downer on my Grandparent's deck and dock each summer.
5. Does your family have a vacation destination that you visit often?
Yes. My Grandparents have an awesome summer time lake cabin that's about 5 hours from home. I visit as often as I can in the summer.
6. How many pillows do you sleep with?
2 for me!
7. What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
Pee. TMI? Sorry, it's true. I stumble out of bed and straight to the potty. Then it's coffee!
8. Will you send your kids to summer camp?
Totally. I loved summer camp!
9. What do you put in your baked potatoes?
Butter, cheddar cheese, sour cream, chives. Ya know, the artery cloggers.
10. Did you take swimming lessons as a kid?
Not formal ones. I suppose spending your summers in the lake as a child kinda defeats the purpose.

Ten on Tuesday
1. What is your ideal best date?
I am not fully sure. So long as there is food, I'm good! lol Actually, I really love it when we go play or do something outside on a gorgeous day, then come home, get cleaned up, and go out for a nice dinner. Top it off with a great movie on the couch in PJ's and I'm a happy woman.
2. How long does it take you to get ready to go on a date?
Not very long. I'm what you might call low-maintenance. I rarely wear make-up, and have about 3 ways in which I style my hair. So maybe 45 minutes depending on if I need a shower or not.
3. What would you wear on the date?
On the above date, probably some cute capri's and a cute top with tennis shoes for the playing. For the dinner out, a dress and low heels.
4. If you are married, how often do you go on dates?
Not very often because we're trying to save money. We'll hit up happy hour deals or discount movies maybe twice a month, and have a decent night out about once per month.
5. What was your worst date?
The one in which we went out with a group of friends and he ignored me for a single friend of mine the entire night.
6. Did you kiss on your first date?
My husband kissed my cheek on our first date and then I got a real kiss on our second.
7. If married, how long before you knew he/she was the one?
After dating for about 2 years. And it was definitely re-confirmed after 3! (We married after dating for 5.5 years.)
8. Do you prefer day dates or night dates?
Both! They each have great things about them.
9. How old were you when you first were allowed to date?
I had to be 16 and he had to be "approved" by my parents.
10. What is the most embarrassing moment you have had on a date?
I let out a huge belch on accident (I swear I didn't even know it was coming!) after dating my husband for about 6 months. I was mortified. He just laughed and then showed me up with a belch of his own.

Ten on Tuesday
1. How did your parents decide on your name?
I was supposed to be a boy: "Stephen" (like "Stefen" not "Steven"). Right before I was born, my mom was watching a soap and liked the name "Erica." She filed it away just in case I turned out to be a girl. She didn't have a gender ultrasound (few did back then!) and I'm the first girl in 4 generations on my Dad's side.
2. Do your initials (First, Middle, Last) spell out anything fun/funny?
For a while there I was EMS, like Emergency Medical Services, but now I'm not and my new initials don't make a good acronym.
3. Did you take your middle name from childhood or did you take your maiden name as your middle name? (If unmarried, what do you plan to do?)
I dropped my given middle name and took my maiden name as my middle for a few reasons. 1. I was named after a relative who has chosen to not have a relationship with me. 2. My professional licenses and work status were in my maiden name and I figured for less confusion (and legal ramifications later) that my maiden name should still be kicking around (no, I don't like hyphenating/keeping your maiden name--I find it disrespectful to the husband).
4. Are you or will you name your children thematically (ie. same first letter, all of same origin…)
They will probably all have semi-Scandinavian names. And the girl name(s) will end with an "a". This just kind of a fun family tradition that all the grand and great-grand children on my Mom's side have done and I really like it. Plus most Scoovy girls names end with an "a" anyway, so it's easy!
5. Did you decide on baby names as a little girl? Did you stick to them or change your mind?
Haven't had kids yet, but I have a few names that I've liked for a few years. But nothing since being a little girl, that I can remember.
6. Does your family have any names that have been passed down through generations?
I can think of 2 that were passed through 2 generations, but then they were stopped. So, not really, no.
7. Do you look at the meaning of the name or just the name itself?
To a small extent, but I care more about the actual name and the spelling.
8. Do you name pets with human names (Sally, Henry) or with pet names (Fluffy, Mr. Bo Bo)?
I've had a lot of pets and their names have swung both ways:
Libby- Golden Retriever
Bliss- Golden Retriever
Amy- Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
Sasha- Cat
Ruthie- Cat
Lena- Cat
Moses- Cat
Merlin- Thoroughbred
Shadow- Quarter Horse
9. Are there any names that you have an affinity or dislike for based on a childhood experience/someone you once knew?
None that I specifically can think of, but certainly when I hear a name suggestion I think "Oh, I knew someone with that name, he smelled bad" or "she was so sweet" etc.
10. What are some of your favorite names? Why?
Olin for a boy. No real reason, I just love it.
Lucia/Anya/Clara/Selma/Hanna for girls. Love that Scandinavian ring to them all, but probably won't use Clara or Hanna because they have been fairly popular lately.
I want my children to have strong names that don't create a lot of nicknames (good or bad) that hopefully won't ever hit a popularity fever pitch.
