Good Riddance!

Remember my ring debacle back in February? Well it's happening again! Good Riddance to my jeweler! (They are going out of business in August, it's no wonder too!)


I lost another of my pave/melee stones last Monday. I immediately called the store and was told I needed my warranty paperwork. Got that and took the ring in on Tuesday. I explained that my wedding was the following Saturday, so they only had about 10 days for repairs.

The ring was promised by 6 pm on Friday.

Tuesday, I called them because I had not heard that the ring was fixed. They told me it'll be 4 WEEKS! for the repair. I broke down crying and said "no, no, no! My wedding is on Saturday--4 days!"

They tried to tell me that they couldn't help me. That their jeweler was out of replacement stones and had to order them in. But that I could call around. I asked what size stone I needed, how much it would cost, and how long my reimbursment from the company would take. BIG PAUSE. "I'll let you speak with my manager."

After much himming and hawing, the ring was transferred to another store with some loose stones rolling around. It is promised to be done by 3 pm on Thursday. But, we still have to make a 2 hour round trip to pick it up because their courier only does scheduled trips and wouldn't be able to have it to me until Friday at 7 pm--well into the rehearsal dinner.

We'll see if they come through.

Good riddance!

1st night hotel room

BAND! OMG. Seriously, I thought this would be easy! Not if you're on a

Dress fittings (once it arrives at the beginning of February)

Undergarment/corset/bustier thingy: rent or buy?

Formal portrait We decided not to do one after all.

Finish designing invites. Print. Assemble. Mail.

Programs

Ask family and friends to do readings, solo, gift table, candle lighting, guest book, table/seating help

Finish table runner project

Put sails on 100 miniature sailboats

Assist future in-laws with rehearsal dinner specifics, invites, etc

Procure rope and ribbon for cake and cake table

Ceremony music

Pre-marital counseling

Setting check on my e-ring. Have band sized to match.

Get J's ring engraved

Guest list/addresses for shower

Make veil

Meet with florist again

Meet with venue catering manager to finalize menu

Get marriage license (less than 60 days prior to)

Figure out wish/advice bowl

Order the men's Sperry Topsiders (my FIL found them for $30 each!)

Make 7 boutonniere's

We decided to go free-for-all. Thanks for your comments and suggestions! They were much appreciated.

Hair & makeup trial

The hair & make-up trail was yesterday and I think it went really well. I usually wear ZERO daily make-up (yes, I have been Blessed with good skin!), and very minimal when we go out. So this type of make-up was a big deal, but I love the way it turned out! Soft, romantic, natural colors. It didn't look or feel heavy.



As for the hair, I like it but am not sure I love it. I think it's the curls, they may be too "prom" for sleek, simple, sophisticated me. Suggestions? This photo from
Jennifer Behr was my original inspiration. But I told her to soften it up, I think she maybe went too soft...

Seating Assignments?

The great question has arisen: do we assign tables, or allow a seating free-for-all at the reception?

There seem to be 2 camps between my family and J's family. Our pro & con lists match up about evenly...

Can you tip our lists? What did/are you doing for your wedding reception. Did you assign tables, or allow people to choose their own. What worked? What didn't work?
